On The Radio is the fifth studio album to be released by The Lewis Hamilton Band,
and was written, recorded and mastered by Lewis himself. The album features virtuoso
drummer Ian Beestin who joined the band in 2017. Most of the album was recorded
at Coneysthorpe Village Hall, famous for its wonderful natural acoustics which lend a
very ‘live’ feel to the recording, along with the fact that Ian recorded all his tracks
in one afternoon and in just one take.
The album demonstrates Lewis sticking to his Blues roots, with content varying from
lively shuffles, up-beat and energetic blues rock, to emotive solo tracks. Even during
early days of distribution it has gathered huge amounts of praise, and within days of
being submitted to the BBC, the title track was featured on York and North Yorkshire
BBC Introducing, with DJ Jericho Keys commenting :

“'On The Radio' - a beautiful song and a very good opener. The flowing blues rock shuffle 'Luck Could Strike Twice', here too the young front man knows how to charm with a great guitar solo and with his good voice. 'When The River Dries' six and a half minutes long but remains fascinating and very enjoyable every second. For me it's the best song on the album. With the Delta blues song 'Far Cry From Home' Lewis takes us to the cotton plantations around the Mississippi Delta. Ian Beestin sets the rhythm of the Southern rocker 'Dusty Trail' with energetic and exciting percussion. 'Lazy' is a country-tinted song in which he knows how to combine the work with bottleneck and beautiful fingerpicking in a very clever way. In the closing track 'Dusk', a dramatic instrumental song, Lewis once again captivates with his excellent and sensitive finger work. 'On The Radio', the fifth studio album will certainly appeal to a lot of music lovers. 8/10”

“Even from just the funky little riff that opens equally funky rhythm and blues number 'On the Radio' it’s clear Lewis Hamilton has stepped it up a notch on his latest studio album. That’s not to demean what has come before as regards album output or The Lewis Hamilton Band’s stature as a staple of the UK blues/ blues rock club scene (and festival appearances a plenty). But with On the Radio the Scottish born singer-guitarist, along with his tight and tidy rhythm section of father Nick Hamilton and drummer Ian Beestin (who joined the band in 2017) has delivered his strongest work to date – both in song craft and musicianship.
